Daily Post: You’re embarking on a yearlong round-the-world adventure, and can take only one small object with you to remind you of home. What do you bring along for the trip?
I can store every photo I like of my family, house, pets and even the neighborhood. Anywhere I go I can easily get in touch with my loved ones, exchange photos and messages through the internet. I can even blog my travels through it. This is a small gadget but it is important and it can carry images and memories of home that puts homesickness away.
A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Proverbs 31:10-30
It is like talking to someone who only listens and agrees with whatever you say. It’s talking without fear of being interrupted or ignored. It is better than talking to my cup of coffee when I get bored. Now that I decide to blog again, I don’t care if it looks like I’m having a one-way conversation with my computer with a cup of coffee and optical mouse as our audience. I will blog for the sake of art and love of blogging. If somebody appreciates my blog in the world wide web, then I would just be glad.
Seriously just like any other human being, I get bored too despite the many chores I need to finish before the day ends. Well, in fact, most of the time I get bored and tired. I don’t have a maid at home. I am the maid. I do the cleaning, the laundry, cooking, gardening and decorating. I am the party planner, or in other words, the engineer of my home… but I love it! I would not exchange it to my previous jobs – secretary, business administrator, or teacher. I found a mission in being a mother and a housewife.
Even if nobody cares what I do at home, I’ll blog about it because I want to. It will serve as an online journal that I could re-open or re-read someday. It is akin to making undying memories that I could show to my daughter what it was like today. In other words, I blog for memories. And when that day comes, I will smile and be pleased that this blog is written by me.
